A Bad Day In Hell

A Bad Day In Hell, written by David R. Schleicher

A Bad Day in Hell (short dark comedy)

A script that joins the Devil on the first Good Friday as he takes whiskey shots and celebrates his success. What could possibly go wrong?

Co-written with Bradyn Braziel, co-founder of Silent House Theatre group (Waco). She also happens to be David's acting coach.

As of August 15, 2026, the script was still relatively recent to the film festival circuit but had won one award and was an official selection in two other fests.

Check out these comments received July 7, 2026 from a reader at a different film festival (with no decision on selection from them yet):

"SHORT FEEDBACK: An original, unique, and cleverly crafted comedy-drama with a strong premise and an intriguing setting - Hell. The story unfolds in modern-day Hell, complete with Wi-Fi, internet, and cellphones. In Satan’s man-cave party room, Satan and Hades sit around a table taking whisky shots as they celebrate Good Friday. Hades congratulates Satan on revealing Jesus as just a man who could die (crucified) and asks how he pulled it off, PowerPoint, AI, or pure original work? Satan smirks and answers, “ChatGPT.” This one-page opening scene effectively establishes the genre, premise, and world, with well-defined characters delivering distinct voices and tone. The engaging characters make for a compelling, character-driven story, showcasing the writers’ sharp skills and strong comedic-drama voice. A budget-friendly and efficient production featuring a single location, two main characters, and two supporting roles."
